Internet rumor about HB 1388 funding bringing Hamas terrorists into the country
The HB1388 rumor is believable but is not, fortunately, true.
What it actually did was certainly not based on any Constitutional authority as it was. The H.R.1388 - The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act (No, you don't have to be a drunk to participate) vastly expands the size of Americorps (Presbo's version of the Civilian Conservation Corps) in size from its current 75,000. to a whopping 250,000.
And of course, in the best of the tradition of service as espoused by Chappaquidik Ted, the "volunteers" will be paid for their voluntary "service" . The CCC was designed to occupy the time of unemployed youth during the Great Depression. Likewise, the HB 1388, with Americorps will occupy the time of the unemployed youth during the Presbo's Great Recession.
Let's hope that he doesn't make it last 8 years like Roosevelt did.
